Openness to Experience
How you relate to ideas, imagination, and novelty
Openness describes the breadth, depth, and originality of a person's mental and experiential life — curiosity about ideas, sensitivity to art and beauty, imagination, and willingness to question convention.
Openness emerged consistently across lexical and questionnaire studies of personality structure and is the dimension most closely associated with divergent thinking, creative achievement, and interest in abstract or aesthetic domains. It is largely independent of measured intelligence, though it correlates modestly with verbal ability and with engagement in intellectually demanding activity.
